to Juji: Persistent issues that need to be fixed

Here's the list of major (and minor) bugs and glitches that still haven't been fixed. Some of them are many years old; some of them are new yet not mentioned in the "Ertheia Known Issues List". They have one thing in common: they occur randomly, and in most cases it is unclear how to reproduce them to investigate.

I'm sure at least some of these issues have been already reported but I guess it won't hurt to list them here.

1. Major server-side glitches

1.1. The hourly items' lag

Description: at the beginning of every hour all items are lagging for a minute or two. Soulshots/spiritshots stop working; drops take ages to pick up; quest items appear in inventory with delay; auction house is not responding, and so on.

1.2. Missing rounds in CoC

Description: sometimes when the registration timer is up there is no message "Registration for the Ceremony of Chaos has ended", and then all the registered players do not get ported into the arenas. The CoC npc's in towns at this moment say "The Ceremony of Chaos is not currently open". Moreover, if the registered players do not relog they will also miss next rounds of CoC.

This started with the Ertheia update. The number of skipped rounds varies from 0 to 2 (the max was 3).

1.3. The Olympiad matching system bug

Description: during class based Oly, supposedly when there are not too many participants of the same class, some players keep missing their rounds after registration. They can chat as if they are not registered yet they cannot watch matches as if they are registered. Trying to cancel registration does not change anything. Relogging is the only way to get out of that Schrodinger cat's state.

This has been a known issue since GoD, but got worse with the Ertheia update.

2. Game interface bugs

2.1. The system chat bug

Description: in most cases when a player's skill fails to work for whatever reason, there is no system message "Your casting has been interrupted". At best, when it happens due to the opponents' actions, there is a message "You can feel <opponent's skill> effect" but no messages informing of what happened to your own skills (canceled? evaded? failed? interrupted? resisted?)

2.2. The Olympiad match listing bug

Description: quite often during Oly, supposedly when there are too many participants, the list of current matches is displayed incorrectly: some matches are listed twice while some others are skipped. This gets especially annoying when you cannot find your own match in the list, repeatedly.

Also, when you sort it alphabetically (or by arena numbers) and scroll down it appears the list is not sorted properly (as it goes in some kind of a loop).

Another glitch: sometimes when you click to refresh the info it goes blank instantly, and it takes a few seconds before you can refresh it again.

2.3. Sticky icons

Description: sometimes (usually when fps is low) icons are sticking to the mouse cursor.

I mention this minor glitch just because it has been a known issue since Beta yet it still hasn't been fixed! The devs even added the Slot Lock option for the skill bar, but did not fix the bug itself.

3. Game mechanics bugs

3.1. Bugged summons in the Olympiad

Description: sometimes after porting out from the arena the summons appear to be missing but it is impossible to resummon them "due to insufficient summon points". This random glitch happens to Wynn Summoners and Feoh Soultakers (not sure about the other classes with summons). Relogging is the only way to fix this situation.

Most likely, this glitch takes place when the summon is critically low on hp, that is, according to the server it is neither dead nor alive (another case of the Schrodinger cat in L2).

3.2. Kartia 95 (2nd room) teleportation bug

Description: both in solo and group versions of Kartia lvl 95 the entrance to the 2nd room is bugged. If a player stops on the certain spot near the entrance he gets repeatedly teleported to the same spot, being blackscreened in the meantime, which may result in dying to the mobs.

3.3. Solo kartia 95 (2nd room) NPC AI bug

Description: if a player upon entering the 2nd room starts fighting the mobs near the entrance the NPC helpers sometimes do not assist the player (the tank may get ported back to the 1st room, the healer blinks to the corner in the infinite loop, and so on). To get the NPC team back to work the player must move further into the room.

4. Client-server issues

4.1. Armor change bug

Description: when you switch between armor sets using in-game macros then relog, it often appears that some parts of the currently equipped armor set are not equipped (though they were on before loggoing out).

To reproduce this glitch, just keep changing armor sets with macros and relogging, after a while you will see a pantless or topless character on the character selection screen.

4.2. Instant disconnections upon relogging

Description: unlike usual network-related disconnections (caused by high latency or packet loss) this issue probably occurs due to some client-side or server-side critical error which does not crash the client but results in sudden disconnection: all animations on the screen instantly freeze and "You have been disconnected from the server" message pops up.

It is a rare glitch: in my case, this happens once in a few days; the reason why I identify this as a separate issue is because when it first started (a year ago after one of updates) it tended to randomly occur during gameplay; now I experience it only while relogging.

4.3. Messed-up shortcuts

Description: after logging in game all the custom shortcuts on the hotbar appear to have the same default icon. One might think it was just a minor issue but until recently it was quite annoying because shortcuts were messed up every other time I logged in, so I had to relog more than once to get them look normal.

Note: currently it seems like this issue has been finally fixed, but I am not 100% certain yet.

4.4. Toggles' display issue

Description: when a player with some toggles on enters the Olympiad arena to watch a match, sometimes after getting out of the observer's state the toggles are not displayed on screen while they are still active in fact. (As you know, in the observer's state all buffs are removed except toggles.) So, if that player then signs to actually fight in the Oly, trying to figure out whether the toggles are actually on or off may be perplexing.

5. Bugged skills

5.1. Crucial skills not working properly

Description: it has been reported that certain very important skills (including Revelation skills) do not work properly under certain conditions, e.g. players can be targeted when Disparition is on; Unbind does not remove debuffs or does not give full immunity; players still take damage while invincibility skills are active, and so on.

This issue first appeared after one of previous updates (Lindvior or Valiance) then it seemed to be fixed but now reappeared with the Ertheia update.

It looks like the devs choose to use the bugged buid of the game as they work on future updates, and send bug fixes later. So, every time we get another update all the old bugs are back and we have to wait for the same bug fixes over and over again.

5.2. Skills not activating

Description: in pvp situations, the same crucial skills quite often do not have any effect at all at all. Due to the system chat bug mentioned above (see paragraph 2.1) it is unclear if it's the skills' casting that gets interrupted by the opponent, or it's the skills themselves just fail to work as intended (e.g. the skill that is supposed to remove stun does not work because of stun).

All you can see is the system message "You use <skill>", the skill's icon shows it's on cooldown, yet there is no effect at all.

5.3. Inability to use skills

Description: it is impossible to use the ultimate debuff-canceling skills such as Disparition and Unbind under certain abnormal conditions, e.g. in feared or transformed state (probably when silenced too).
