The chief game designer of "World of Warcraft" once said, "Everything in game should be possible, obtainable but NOT everything is meant for MASTERY."
This is a sentence that got me thinking for awhile until I began to see the reasoning behind. It's like...as long as people can achieve something everyday and get something done on a daily basis, that is a progress.. that's an achievement... and that is happiness! A small victory everyday~and this can be quite addictive! However, not everything in game should be just given to players for FREE allowing them to have the mastery of all the game contents and all gears too easy, otherwise there would be absolutely nothing to do... just boredom after...(It's quite funny how I can say the exact same thing for real life)
So what does it mean to be happy on a daily basis in Lineage2? Well here is what I think....for our daily happiness thingy to happen, the next needs to be maintained...i.e. The game should give its priority to
Long time L2 players 5 years + >>> Nstore shoppers >>> Free players, in this order.
It is the 5 years+ L2 players who are the main driving force in Lineage2 and should be given the top priorities all the time. Everything should be oriented around them. They should be the first to enter the new instances and the first ones to loot the new items and gears. After all, they deserve it. Whether they are a major Ncoin spenders or not, it doesn't matter. Anyone who has played and mastered the game of L2 for as long as they have, deserves at least that much of respect.
The 2nd group is the relatively new players who are willing to pay to catch up with the 1st group of L2 veterans. They deserve some respect too for they are the ones who pay for the game service and also the main source of game income. After all, the game company and the players are in a symbiosis relationship. The game company needs the revenue from the players and the players need the game company to continue providing the service. Don't forget! Somebody has to pay!
The 3rd and the last group is the Free Loaders. People who don't pay...or Can't pay..or don't want to pay..etc. Well...these people deserve some respect too and the game should allow them to enjoy the game of L2 to a certain extent. They should have enough to experience the game of Lineage2 and some end game contents but not all of it...Well if they are willing to spend a lot of time and work hard? then they should have enough to join the 1st group of veterans...but now...we run into the problem of botting...
What if someone just bots a lot? then no1 will have to pay and still have everything in the game? Well, I think I've provided my solutions to the bot problems...so many solutions really but mines were #1. Elite AOE Bot Killing MoB and #2. Make all end game zone, PVP Free Zone...anyone can kill anyone without any penalty.
The lineage2 at the moment is kinda balanced I think for level 100+ instances. K95, Baylor, CC, Kama = not that hard and pretty much anyone with the basic R99 gear can do them.
AF, Gludio instance + = very hard without proper gears = instances made for 5 year+ veteran+....
Right now seems balanced...but what next?
to be continued...
