Gutsy win by Team USA 2-1 over Ghana. However, it was painfully obvious from watching the game that Team USA is not nearly as technically proficient as the South American or European teams. With Pepe suspended for a red card and Portugal reeling from a 4-0 drubbing by Germany, perhaps USA can go for the kill, or at least get a draw, which would spell doom for Portugal (yea -4 goal difference, although...)

England 1, Italy 2: Rooney CHOKES AGAIN
Maybe the worst corner kick ever in world history....
Rooney is the Tony Romo of futbol: So much hype, yet comes up so small in big situations. Missing a wide open shot from 12 yards out and kicking a corner BEHIND THE NET won't shake off that choker label. Look, I understand a manager has to take care of his star players, but you don't get too many second chances in the World Cup and Adam Lallana is not a bad player. If I were managing England and had to start Rooney v. Uruguay, I would go with a 4-2-1-2-1

Rooney came up with a great cross that game: That's what he is with his mental state at the moment, a great facilitator but a terrible finisher. He shouldn't be the point man. Also, yessshh that defense, Johnson and Baines were terrible.
I'll give Rooney credit for this: He looks like your average Joe in your beer league, yet still is a great athlete. This in stark contrast to the Most Interesting Man in the World, Andrea Pirlo.
Costa Rica 3, Uruguay 1: Guess what? Luis Saurez can't play all 4 defensive positions. Also, considering how bad England's defense is playing at the moment, I think Costa Rica could do England in too.
Brazil 3, Croatia 1: Hey Look, HotM... I mean Fred....

Spain is old. Casillas is old. Xavi is old. Iniesta is old. Torres is old. Old, old, old, and the nail in the coffin is a 5-1 drubbing by the Dutch (whose attackers aren't that young either, RvP, Sniejder, and Robben are on the wrong side of 30). Looks like losing that starting job to Diego made Casillas horribly rusty, bring on De Gea!

*The only Latino heavy clan I can think of is HouseofErrants, but I'm sure I'm wrong.
Seeing Mexico's luck, or lack thereof, with referees last game though, I have a bad feeling they'll get screwed over again versus Brazil (prediction: Neymar flops in the box for game-winning PK).
